How our system works

What is our system

The Inside-Out Underdecking system is like a big gutter installed under your deck. It catches rain that falls through the gaps in your deck boards with aluminum panels. These panels are angled towards a central gutter, which then directs the water to a downspout. The aluminum is durable and weather-resistant, and we’ve seen these systems last over 15 years and still going strong.

First steps- Trimming and Flashing

We’ll work with you to choose the best spot for the gutter. Next, we’ll trim around the edge of your deck using G channel and side caps. These trims are where the panels will fit. We’ll also add extra flashing above the G channel to prevent water from dripping down the wall.

Pitch is created

The G channel, or "trim," is positioned slightly higher than the edge of the gutter. This setup creates a slope in the panels as they slide into the trim, ensuring that water flows smoothly toward the gutter.

Carriers hold the panels in place

Carriers are affixed to your beams, and the panels snap securely into these carriers, firmly holding them in place. We then adjust the carriers vertically to ensure that the panels rest flush on the face of the gutter, thereby confirming the correct pitch.

Final Product

Once the final panels are in place and locked, we install the downpipes. These pipes will direct water from the gutter to drainage tiles or wherever you prefer. We’ll also make any final adjustments based on your feedback. Then you can start enjoying your new dry outdoor space from Quality Underdecking.
